In addition to national and international key players, numerous first-time exhibitors and start-ups will attend VISION 2022 on 4–6 October 2022. One thing that stands out this year is the huge interest shown by newcomers.
Mark Williamson, Chairman of the VDMA Machine Vision Board and Managing Director of STEMMER IMAGING Ltd., explains, “Machine vision is a key technology in the trend towards digitalization, both in and outside the factory. In recent years, we have seen many changes including company consolidations and emergence of new players, including innovative start-ups bringing new ideas and approaches to the traditional machine vision field. The VISION show, which incorporates VISION Start-up World and the daily VISION Start-up Pitch Sessions, provides a perfect opportunity for newcomers to meet and discuss their approach with established players and experts in the field. VISION 2022 is the perfect opportunity to gain insights into the latest technologies and trends in machine vision.”
Florian Niethammer, Head of Exhibitions and Events at Messe Stuttgart, adds, “From the latest camera technologies to software from the field of artificial intelligence or deep learning to exciting image processing systems—revolutionary thoughts and innovative solution proposals ensure that the machine vision industry is highly dynamic. This makes it all the more important to offer start-ups an appropriate stage and give them the chance to raise the potential of the machine vision industry to a new level!”
VISION 2022 Product Preview
After the successful debut of VISION Start-up World last year, the outlook for the second edition could hardly be better. At least 18 young companies have registered for VISION Start-up World. This significant level of interest reflects the industry’s dynamic growth.
Another noteworthy development this year is the strong international presence. In addition to German exhibiting companies, numerous international start-ups—including start-ups from India, Israel, Japan, Canada and Latvia—have registered to attend.
For example, Saccade Vision is taking part in VISION for the first time. The company is headquartered in Israel and specializes in industrial quality inspection. It has already won several innovation prizes, including a Vision Systems Design Innovators Award. For the Saccade Vision team, participating in VISION Start-up World is particularly important, according to Alex Shulman, Co-Founder and CEO of Saccade Vision. “We can’t wait to give customers, system integrators, potential partners and investors a live demonstration of our 3D quality inspection solution,” he says. “Our goal is to show how 3D quality inspection can be used autonomously, quickly, and precisely to work more efficiently and, at the same time, drastically reduce quality inspection costs.” says Alex Shulman.
In collaboration with the VDMA Machine Vision sector group and the VDMA Start-up Machine network, VISION offers young companies an additional opportunity to showcase their services and solutions with the Start-up Pitch Sessions. As part of the Industrial VISION Days forum, on each day of the trade fair, four companies will have the chance to present their innovations on the large forum stage in front of trade visitors on-site as well as audience members worldwide via a live stream. At the end of each day, the “Start-up of the Day” will be chosen from the four companies. The “VISION Start-up 2022” will be announced on the last day of the trade fair. “It will be incredibly exciting to experience the diversity of topics and to see where we stand right now and where we are headed,” says Niethammer.
Tobias Kreklow, Managing Director of HAIP Solutions GmbH, is keen to emphasize the development of hyperspectral imaging in particular and stresses the importance of VISION for HAIP Solutions GmbH. “In the coming years, hyperspectral imaging will take on enormous importance for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs),” he says. “In addition to traditional industrial optical sorting applications such as in recycling or the food industry, imaging processes will also find their way into the field of plant cultivation or indoor farming applications. VISION Start-up World with VISION Start-up Pitch Sessions gives us the opportunity to finally present our solutions to a larger audience and to establish important contacts in the industry.”
Another program at VISION allows young, innovative companies from Germany to receive funding to participate in the group stand of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK). Among the companies featured at the BMWK Group stand is PARKVI, a system integrator that offers exclusive special solutions for challenging requirements. With AI-based weld seam and surface inspections, the Augsburg-based company has expanded its service portfolio and will present this at VISION. “We are looking forward to making new contacts at VISION and are excited about the challenging tasks that prospective customers will approach us with,” says Parth Pandya, Managing Director of PARKVI GmbH.
