Mergers multiply

Eastman Kodak Co. (Rochester, NY), the leader in medical imaging-processing products with a 30% market share, has agreed to purchase the medical-imaging unit of Imation Corp. (Oakdale, MN), a maker of data-storage, imaging, and color management products, for approximately $520 million. The purchase includes Imation`s DryView technology, wet-laser and standard x-ray film products, 1600 workers, and business unit revenues of about $500 million. This digital technology incorporates dry laser-imaging systems that produce films of images produced by ultrasound, computer tomography, and magnetic resonance machines.

Xycom Inc. (Saline, MI), a manufacturer of products and services for factory-floor automation, has signed an agreement to merge with Automation Systems and Products Inc. (Chagrin Falls, OH), a producer of software serving the industrial automation market.

A provider of information technology and electronic systems and services, Titan Corp. (San Diego, CA) has signed a letter of intent to buy VisiCom Inc. (San Diego, CA), an information technology company. Upon completion of the merger, VisiCom will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of Titan.

ThetaScan, a group of companies in France that deals in image processing and management, has purchased Noesis Vision Inc. (St. Laurent, Quebec, Canada), a supplier of image-processing and analysis software.

Media Cybernetics LP (Silver Spring, MD) has completed an agreement with FLIR Systems Inc. (Portland, OR) to buy the Optimas image-analysis software product line and related assets.
