Sick takes over Stegmann

OCTOBER 2--Sick AG (Waldkirch/Donaueschingen, Germany; www.sick.de), a producer of sensors, safety systems, and identification solutions for factory automation and products for process analysis and environmental measurement, is taking over Max Stegmann GmbH, a producer of shaft encoders and actuators for automation technology.

OCTOBER 2--Sick AG (Waldkirch/Donaueschingen, Germany; www.sick.de), a producer of sensors, safety systems, and identification solutions for factory automation and products for process analysis and environmental measurement, is taking over Max Stegmann GmbH, a producer of shaft encoders and actuators for automation technology. With this acquisition Sick AG has completed its product portfolio in the area of factory automation and achieved a significant market position in the area of shaft encoders.

The main consumers are the packaging machine industry, handling technology and robotics, the automotive industry, storage and conveyor technology, the electronics and semiconductor industries, and printing and paper. As a result of this acquisition, Sick also gains access to the growth market of drive technology.

Organizationally, as a 100% subsidiary, Max Stegmann GmbH will become part of Sick's industrial sensors division.
