Cognex releases updated directory server for enhanced security and integration for vision systems

Nov. 22, 2013
Cognex Corporation has announced the release of Cognex Directory Server (CDS) software version 1.0, which is intended to provide industry-standard security for networked In-Sight vision systems.

Cognex Corporation has announced the release of Cognex Directory Server (CDS) software version 1.0, which is intended for use with its industry-leading line of In-Sight vision systems. CDS leverages industry-standard IT infrastructure and protocols such as LDAP, SSL, and HTTPS for network security. When a user attempts to log into an In-Sight camera, credentials are passed to the server for authentication and user-specific permissions are transferred back to the camera. With CDS, access permissions are customizable for each user, which ensures the integrity of the vision system setup. CDS also enables the guarding of sensitive information, the management of large numbers of In-Sight vision systems across a factory floor, and also complies with industry regulations, such as 21 CFR Part 11 compliance for validation.
