When it comes to optical character recognition (OCR) and optical character verification (OCV) technologies, a number of challenges exist. However, once these are overcome,OCR and OCV offer time and money saving advantages in automation applications.
Michal Goc, Senior Vision & Controls Integrator at Systematix Inc., will address these issues in an upcoming webcast on September 16. In it, Goc will compare on-label and direct-part marking and describe methods for improving the odds of a successful read. Goc will also discussillumination techniques for printed labels, dot pin characters, and laser marked characters. In addition, he will cover the preprocessing of images for better readability, and explain the use of software tools and techniques.
