A machine vision integration directive introduced by the VDI/VDE Society Measurement and Automatic Control of the Association of German Engineers (VDI) and the VDMAhas been officially recommended for use to the members of the G3 association.

G3— which is comprised of the AIA, the China Machine Vision Union (CMVU), the European Machine Vision Association (EMVA), the Japan Industrial Imaging Association (JIIA) as well as the German Engineering Federation (VDMA)—has confirmed the directive’s benefit for "fast and targeted project management when integrating machine vision systems into measuring and automation solutions."

The directive, VDI/VDE/VDMA 2632 part 2 "Machine vision - Guideline for the preparation of a requirement specification and a system specification," provides a guideline for preparing technical and functional specifications in machine vision. The directive is available in an English/Chinese version, and aids in completion of projects undertaken with international partners, while also providing a recognized, international common basis if there is need for clarification among project partners, per the VDMA. Additionally, the directive helps mitigate language barriers.

The new directive can be ordered from the VDI here.
