DALSA receives contract to supply digital mammography cameras
FEBRUARY 25--DALSA Corporation (Waterloo, Ontario, Canada) has received a $2.4 million contract to provide digital x-ray cameras to a manufacturer of mammography equipment for hospitals and clinics. The cameras are expected to be delivered to the customer by the end of the second quarter of 2005.
The DALSA CCD (charge-coupled-device) cameras are direct replacements for film-based x-ray cassettes and are used for small-field (50 x 50 mm), high-resolution radiography applications such as diagnostic spot mammography, needle localization, and stereotactically guided needle breast biopsy. The cameras provide a less-intrusive procedure for breast biopsy and reduced x-ray levels for the patient.
