NEW PRODUCT PRESS RELEASE

Edmund Optics (EO; Barrington, NJ, USA), provider of optical components, expands its selection of TECHSPEC MgF2 coated achromatic lenses. Consisting of two optical components cemented together to form an achromatic doublet, the high performance lenses include fast achromatic lenses and micro achromats. Our versatile lenses are computer-optimized to correct for on-axis spherical and chromatic aberrations and offer a wide range of optical solutions for polychromatic illumination.

Fast Achromatic Lenses allow for maximum light collection
TECHSPEC Fast Achromatic Lenses are the fastest cemented doublets available on the market today. They are designed to produce the smallest focused spot size and superior images without decreasing the clear aperture and offer improved chromatic focal shift. Featuring F/1 designs, these lenses have been optimally designed to minimize chromatic and spherical aberration for excellent focused spots at short working distances. Fast Achromatic Lenses are available with a single layer MgF2 coating in diameters ranging from 9 mm to 25 mm. Other designs and coating options are also available. EO's Fast Achromatic lenses are ideal for many laser focusing applications.

Micro Achromats available in 1 mm to 5 mm diameters
TECHSPEC Micro Achromats are available in diameters ranging from 1 mm to 5 mm in focal lengths from 1.5 mm to 20 mm. These lenses are available with a single layer MgF2 coating or a broadband multi-layer coating for the visible spectrum. Micro Achromatic lenses are ideal for space constrained imaging applications such as borescopes and medical imaging. Achromatic doublets are much better than simple lenses for multi-color imaging as the two elements composing the doublet lens are paired together for their ability to correct the color separation inherent in glass. This is an excellent, cost-effective measure to eliminate troublesome chromatic aberrations, making them the ideal choice for a variety of optical applications.

Edmund Optics' Achromatic Lenses are in-stock and available for immediate delivery. These TECHSPEC components are fully supported by engineering prints and are easily integrated into complex assemblies through the available ZEMAX files.
