Headwall Photonics has announced the availability of a completely integrated airborne solution which provides users with hyperspectral image acquisition and data-processing capabilities. The system is comprised of Headwall’s Micro-Hyperspec hyperspectral sensor, a data processing unit, and Hyperspec III image processing software. Headwall’s Micro-Spec sensors feature four different models, ranging from 380-1000 and 900-1700 nm wavelength range, with Silicon CCD (A-Series VNIR), sCMOS (E-Series VNIR), and InGaAs image sensors (X-Series and T-Series NIR). In addition, the sensors are able to achieve frame rates from >90 fps (A-Series,) to >100 fps (E-Series, X-Series, T-Series).

The system’s compact data processing unit is powered by a 2.2 GHz dual-core i7 processor running on Windows or Linux, and features 4 GB memory, USB and Camera Link ports, a GigE port, and pre-loaded Hyperspec III software. Hyperspec III software uses industry standard Camera Link and USB interfaces and provides frame rates in excess of 400 fps. The software also interfaces with GPS devices to allow for calibration and start/stop data capture. In addition, it manages all camera parameters and motion-control features such as pan and tilt.

The solution is optimized for use in small, hand-launched UAVs to fixed-wing aircraft and multi-rotor airframes.
