JUNE 22--Stanford Resources (San Jose, CA; www.stanfordresources.com, a market-research firm focusing on the global electronic-display industry, has released a new topical report. Display Interfaces: DVI Gathers Momentum examines signal interfaces that link computers and other host devices to displays. It focuses on Digital Visual Interface (DVI), an 'industry standard1 that comes in a variety of configurations, and analyzes recent developments in host system-to-display interface technology. It also focuses on the installation of the monitor (connecting a monitor to a host device, such as a computer).

Among the interfaces that are covered in the report are IEEE 1394 (FireWire) and wireless links such as Bluetooth and IEEE 802.11b (Wi-Fi). Advantages of DVI and the progress toward greater use of digital interfaces are discussed.

Next in the Stanford Resources monthly topical-report series is Digital Television, which analyzes the move to digital television and high-definition television. Future reports will address subjects such as recycling of computer monitors and other electronic display technologies.
