FEBRUARY 5, 2009--VisionGauge OnLine optical character recognition systems/optical character verification systems (OCR/OCV) automatically locate and read text, verify that the text matches the expected character string, compute results statistics, export and exchange results, and produce reports. The systems include adapted, low-distortion optics and programmable, computer-controlled illumination. The VisionGauge OnLine toolset is included to automatically clean up the image before carrying out the character recognition operation, for improved results in cases of contamination or background noise. A proprietary "character splitting" algorithm deals with print imperfections and smears. The configurable system is "user-trainable" and supports user-supplied character and symbol libraries.
