Our top picks for Kinect ingenuity #4

Dec. 27, 2012

At the University of Calgary, researchers have developed a system to track construction workers. The automated system can evaluate how much time construction workers spend on the job and their performance. It can also differentiate site personnel, track construction worker location, and follow their movements in a specified work area. The main drawback of this system is the distance limitation of the Kinect. Because the depth information can be generated only within 4 m from the camera, the system will only work indoors.
