AUGUST 1--The embedded industrial PC sector will be the fastest-growing sector within the Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) market for industrial PCs, according to the latest study published by IMS Research (Wellingborough, UK; www.imsresearch.com). Machine-builder and end-user requirements to reduce machinery footprint size while increasing reliability and maintaining functionality are leading to the wider adoption of embedded industrial PC products.

IMS Research market analyst and report-author Mark Watson commented: "Space constraints are passed on from the machine builder to industrial PC suppliers, who are required to supply products that are physically smaller but have a similar level of processing power. This includes visualization and control capabilities."

IMS Research forecasts that the EMEA market for industrial PCs will increase to more than €740 million by 2010, experiencing a CAGR of 8%. The sector for embedded industrial PCs is estimated to account for approximately 13.8% of the EMEA market in 2005, with this expected to increase to just under 18% by 2010.
